PostSubject: Do you think manga is preventing people from reading text novels?   Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:08 pm

I thought I'd start a new section on an area that both writers and artists can participate in.
Debates have always interested me, because people bring up interesting issues and opinions to the table from different angles.

Do you think manga is preventing people from reading text novels?
I personally, don't think it is. It's actually encouraged me to start reading text novels.

NOT AT ALL.

My decision is based on a manhua (Hong Kong and/or Taiwanese manga) I am reading which is based on a novel. People actually go to buy the novel after reading the first volume of the manga. Therefore I don't think manga is preventing people from reading novels. They are completely different things. People who like novels will read them regardless, and people who like manga and not novels will not read them.

I am both a manga and novel reader~~ ;D

No. > >'

Manga is for people who like manga~. A lot more people don't like manga than do like manga and many, many people love to read.

Text novels are around to stay, and Ki is right. They're completely different ways of telling a story.

I love novels. And I love manga too.
