I've only read up to volume 5, but I'm absolutely addicted to this. It's based in the Meiji period in Japan. It's about a young girl who grew up poor all of her life. Her brother was frivolous with money and she always had to pick up the slack. However, her brother wasn't completely hopeless. He would adopt young orphans and bring them home regardless of their situation. One day, one of their young adopted brothers became ill but they never had enough money to pay the doctor. She felt hopeless, but then a young man approached her with a deal. His grandfather had told him that if he were to get married then he would inherit their entire estate. They agreed that he would pay for their medical and living expenses in exchange for marriage under the condition that it is strictly professional and love is an option. However, the longer they live together, the more they become attracted to each other. Will circumstances change for the 2 of them? Will people find out about the poor girls' past?
