What do you expect in a romantic manga?

There are many romance manga popping up lately. What I look for in a romance manga is a good storyline, good characters and that mune kyun feeling. The characters don't have to be gorgeous, but sometimes it helps.

That all sounds a bit general and vague. I look for a good storyline and good characters in any manga.

And I assume we have vastly different tastes because nothing new in the romance genre has stood out to me at all.I tire of type a, type b stories which are plaguing the genre. Give me something deeper than a love triangle/square/octagon.. Give me characters that don't fall in love five minutes after they've met.

I'm not all that picky when it comes to the romance genre. In terms of characters for females I prefer someone that has a good head on their shoulders. Not a person that is too dependent and has low self-esteem.
